Westminster Presbyterian Church
Staff and Leadership
Rev. Dr. Clay Brown
Pastor, Head of Staff
cell: (704) 402-3549
Clay has been the senior pastor of Westminster since May 2012. He has served as an ordained teaching elder and pastor in the Presbyterian tradition for 25+ years. He sums up his theology with the famous first question and response of the Westminster Catechism: "What is the chief end of man? Man's chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever." He believes the primary work of both pastor and congregation is proclaiming the good news of Jesus, teaching the Christian faith, and providing pastoral care in Christ's name.
He is married to Cathy, a middle school educator, and together they have three grown children: their daughter Taylor, and their sons Blake and Collin.
His academic preparation for the pastorate includes a B.A. in English and Drama from East Texas Baptist College; a M.A. in communication from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; a M.Div. from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary; and a Ph.D in philosophy and apologetics in a shared program of study from Trinity Theological Seminary and the University of Liverpool, with his dissertation on C.S. Lewis.
